Let’s be honest: Dog toys can get pretty expensive… even though they do beat having puppies chewing up all your things. But a better way is to use an old sock to make a little pup his very own chew toy.

You can pull one over an empty water bottle, which is a bonus because they love the crackling sound. Or you can use a tennis ball and tie it up inside the sock to give them a perfect pull toy.

Sock repurposing idea: DIY Swiffer Pads

Those incredibly fluffy socks that you can’t find the other halves of make fantastic Swiffer pads. You simply have to cut the toe part off and place the sock over your Swiffer.

The original pads are excellent for picking up dust but can be rather expensive when you have to constantly replace them. Use those old socks instead, and you’ll never have to repurchase Swiffer pads again!

Sock repurposing idea: Arm warmers

If you have a pair of worn down socks or you have a couple of mismatched ones, you can transform them into fantastic arm warmers.

Just a few snips around the toe area and your kids or grandkids can keep extra warm when they’re outside playing in the snow. Thick, fuzzy socks work best for this idea.

Sock repurposing idea: Pin cushion

It will only take you about 10 minutes to complete a little sock pin cushion. This is an excellent idea for all socks, especially if you like sewing. You can’t ever have enough pin cushions, right?

Just some cutting, folding, and sewing are needed, and that’s about it. This is also a great project for teens learning to sew for the first time and maybe needing their own sewing supplies.

Sock repurposing idea: Door draft stopper

If you live in an area that can be pretty cold during the winter months, you might notice your electric bill increasing. Part of that could be due to drafts coming in under your door.

You can quickly remedy that issue with some quilt batting and old socks. Fill up the socks with batting, sew them together, and place them in front of your door to stop those cold drafts in their tracks.

Sock repurposing idea: Doggie scarf

Your adorable pup should be just as warm and stylish as you! A scarf may be in order if you tend to take your little furry friends outside during cooler weather.

You can make an adorable little scarf out of a knee sock and a bit of sewing. Your pet will thank you for the warmth, and you’ll love showing them off in their little doggie scarf.

Argyle socks are perfect for making some little vase cozies, but you could use any socks you might have. This one is so effortless to make. You slip the sock over your vase, and you’re all set.

I’ve used socks on my dogs incisions. Great on legs stays in place. Just trim the heel part. Holds the dressing in place n toss when soiled.
