11 Burned Bathroom Trends Designers Are Tired Of

Double sinks

While they look very cute in rom-coms, they’re not so nice to have in real life. In other words, double sinks aren’t practical at all. It seems that two sinks will instantly create more nooks and crannies that you later need to clean. Not to mention the fact that you’ll have a hard time finding enough counter space for your hair dryer, makeup, or even shaving kit!

Large, frameless mirrors

In the last couple of years, these cheap bathroom mirrors have become omnipresent, and most landlords won’t even bother to upgrade them. “The entire design aesthetic of the home should reflect on the bathroom, and choosing frameless mirrors simply adds zero characters.” as Ben Creamer, the co-founder and managing broker for the Downtown Realty Company, has explained.

It would be much better if you’d simply hang a framed mirror over your sink, he explained.

Well this is great, who has the money to remodel their bathrooms every 5-10 years at $10k each, so not practical

Guess what the new trend is everybody? It’s called do it your way!!! Don’t listen to all the trends that make you feel like your bathroom is less than. I love doing things my way! That’s what makes me feel the best. You certainly do not have to go out and spend a bunch of money just to have a bathroom that is up to date, according to something you see online or read in a magazine.

Some of the things are definitely relevant and out dated. However, I definitely disagree with a few things and just take them as someone else’s opinion:
JET TUBS – I replaced a regular tub with a jet tub. It fit in the same space and the maintenance is no more trouble than that on the old tub. Plus, I enjoy it from the few times that I use it.
FRAMELESS MIRRORS – The usefulness of the large frameless mirror out does any current fashion trend. They’re great.
DOUBLE SINKS – not sure what you’re talking about here. The additional counter space that comes with a double sink is a very welcomed advantage.

Spend a ton of money upgrading your bathroom that was upgraded five years ago then find out that, in one year, it is too dated and must be upgraded again. Cars don’t depreciate that fast.

Plus, note these are things that “designers” are tired of, not realtors or home buyers, designers. The folk that make money off of telling others how their bathrooms should look. I agree with the person before that stated that she does it as she wants it. The designers all need to make money, what better way than to keep telling everyone else how “out of date” their houses and bathrooms are so that they can then tell them what glorious designs they can produce for them at outrageous sums of money?

Not only was this article a waste of my time to read, but it was also poorly written.
