Trying to sell that clutter

You need to picture this: you are standing in a corner of your room, looking at the pile of stuff you want to get rid of. Suddenly, a genius idea pops into your head: most of these things are still valuable, so why not sell them?

While it’s completely understandable, if you are an overthinker, it will only lead to a messier outcome. There are many reasons why selling your stuff is basically a waste of time, including:

  • the fact that your intention is to make a decent amount of money, but deep down, you know you might make a little bit;
  • It takes too much time and effort to organize everything, clean, and price the items, especially if you want to make a garage sale. If you decide to sell online, you might have to consider the time it would take to photograph each and every time, keep everything tidy, and communicate with all the potential buyers.

How do I avoid that?

First things first, stop and try to avoid going down that rabbit hole of thinking that it might be worth your time. It’s true that a couple of extra bucks might take you a long way, but the return on investment of your time might not be worth it.

Instead, before you even start decluttering, you could make a firm decision to donate everything you don’t need anymore. You can make something as simple as a mindset shift, which will make the process so much easier and faster.
