These 10 Garage Updates Will Boost Your Home’s Value

4. Make the floor slip-proof

This extra feature will help you, especially during the cold season, because it gives protection. Slip-resistant surfaces can be made in two ways: by texturizing the concrete itself or by adding some sort of grit to the floor surface. There are numerous techniques to accomplish the first one, but the ideal one involves adding a grit material before applying the sealant.

On the surface, apply a tape with a rough surface. Request the assistance of a professional if you don’t believe you can complete this task on your own.

5. Let your car own the space

If you want to sell your property, you must think outside the box. An updated garage that tends to look more like a space for relaxation and hobbies might not be what the buyer wants. In fact, it’s going to put it on the black list because you don’t know if other people will share your vision as well.

If the space is quite large and, aside from that, you can still put shelves near the car, then it’s going to be a win-win situation. But most important is to let your car own the space entirely! That doesn’t mean you will neglect all the steps mentioned above. Even if the future owner wants the garage only for their car (or cars), they will also appreciate good lighting and a slip-proof floor.

I’m not trying to make any body green with envy. I want to fit my car into the garage and right now if I was able to drive my car into the garage, I would not be able to get out of the car. There is maybe one hundred inches to park the car in the garage and my car would require at least 90 inches. I would need another 40 to 50 inches to open the driver’s side door and get out of the car, walk to the back of the car, open the trunk or maybe the side passenger door and get the groceries bags out or whatever I came home with.

I am about to move into a home with a super small garage so , like my daughter did we are going up in the garage, I am excited to get the lift for items and the shelving put in with a complete floor above the cars this will help at least for Christmas things and such, we are older so we don’t have kids living at home but we seem to have things we need to be able to get to.
