The doors
It’s common knowledge that entering and exiting the garage shouldn’t be too difficult. Also, you should be able to open and lock those mandoors easily. A best-case scenario would include doors with levers instead of knobs that could be easily opened.
Even more, if comfort interests you (and it should), you have to make sure that those doors are a minimum of 36 inches wide, so they could accommodate wheelchairs in the future. Last but not least, you might want to add a no-step entry into the house, just to make it a bit easier for your loved one to get inside whenever it’s needed.
If your garage has steps, you could also add a ramp. As for the centerpiece and the garage door, you might want to consider adding an automatic opener. To make things easier, invest in openers for each vehicle, but also in a keyless pad entry in the off chance the garage door opener won’t work or vanishes.
