Garbage disposal is not really…garbage so use it accordingly
We know it’s in its name, “garbage disposal,” but this item is not meant to dispose of any stuff that must be thrown in the trash can. A small amount of food, like crumbles, or a bit of milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl, is okay if somehow it slips into the garbage disposal. But don’t make a habit of throwing away meat chunks, coffee grounds, or pieces of vegetables in it. Otherwise, because it’s clogged, the disposal will overheat and eventually break. That’s why plumbers never do this!
Instead, save yourself from trouble and throw everything away in the trash, and of course make sure you clean it regularly. Your sink will thank you later!

For excess grease after cooking save and use your old paper coffee cups instead of a jar or plastic. Freeze the grease then dispose in garbage on morning of garbage collection. I do this with many of old cooking liquids and in summer chicken and meat bones
