1. Lay a new rug

One of the most affordable kitchen upgrades you should aim for is laying a new rug. Replacing the flooring altogether is definitely a spendy project, but you can fake the look of new floors by just bringing in a new rug or two.

Quick and easy, this upgrade only requires you to buy a new rug, move some pieces of furniture aside (if that’s the case) to lay it, and put everything back where it was before (or maybe place them differently if you like).

According to interior designer Kristin Marino of KozyKasa, this is one of the most affordable kitchen upgrades that will add comfort and warmth to your space while preventing food fatigue. Consider playing with patterns and colors to decorate for the season. Also, make sure you choose a quality rug mat underneath to prevent slipping.
