1. Add wallpaper

When the wallpaper you have started to peel off, you know it’s time to toss it and upgrade it! Speaking of progress, the advent of peel-and-stick wallpaper has revolutionized the wallpaper industry and it can make your home look better than ever.

We all know that heavy-duty adhesives and special wallpapering equipment are a thing of the past, and we’re more than happy about it.

The 1st project idea we have for you is to add some wallpaper to your home. If you already have one and it looks chipped, it’s time for a change. This simple trick will give your home a new polished look, and it will bring a new vibe that you’ll surely enjoy.

Order the peel-and-stick pattern of your choice, cut it to size, remove the backing, and stick it to the wall — simple and efficient, and you’re done.

By wallpapering 1 wall as an accent wall, you can make your room look great in just a few minutes, and when you’ve grown out of the one you already have, peel it off and change it with a new and fresh one.

…We love this project! We always have a blast when changing our wallpaper!

2. Change your interior doors

If you’re bored with the way your interior doors look, you might be thinking of changing them. This isn’t as affordable as applying wallpaper but think of it as an investment. You won’t change them again anytime soon, and they make everything feel like a completely new house.

This is an upgrade that has a significant effect and it’s not very expensive either. You can replace your internal doors with something more elegant than what was there when you moved it, and you’ll notice how different everything will feel and look.

Pre-hung doors, which are doors that already have their frames attached, and slab doors are 2 options for door replacement (this means doors that can easily be added to the existing structure, without too much effort). Choose something that goes with your decor and color scheme and you’ll notice how gorgeous your home will look!

3. Fix a ceiling fan

Installing a ceiling fan is a simple and budget-friendly weekend project that will make you very happy in the long run! Not only will it make your home look prettier, but it also has some practical benefits. For example, ceiling fans are a great way to control the temperature in both cold and warm weather, which is definitely something you need in the summer and winter.

The best part is that you can turn your fan on as much as you want without worrying about your bill. See, this is a great project, and every member of the household will be happy with it!

…What are your thoughts on this one? Do you have a ceiling fan at home?

4. Add some sconces on the walls

Wall sconces look incredibly good, and they can quickly give a modern and polished look to your stunning home. They’re a great way to improve a room’s aesthetics and serve a functional purpose as well. Basically, they’re a project you don’t want to neglect because they will make your home look very sophisticated and stylish.

This little project will help you create a relaxing space for reading, and it won’t take you too long to install wall sconces on either side of a bed or in the living room.

Wall sconces can be mounted in a few different ways, although at 1st you might think that they’re a little hard to install. However, keep in mind that fully hardwired sconces can only be put up by an electrician or someone who knows how to work with electrical wiring, because things can get tricky pretty fast and you don’t want to risk injuring yourself.

Or, you can save even more time and also avoid the need for any wiring at all by purchasing sconces that can be plugged in or run off of batteries.

5. Add a fresh coat of paint

If you’ve read any of our articles, you already know we’re big fans of painting. And why shouldn’t we? It’s actually one of the simplest and least expensive ways to improve the appearance of any space.

Putting up a patch over any dings or holes in the wall will make the most difference. What’s even better? This easy remodeling project can be finished over the weekend, depending on the size of your area.

Whether you only apply a new coat of the color you already have or decide to go for a different hue, it’ll definitely change the way your room looks and feels.

6. Upgrade your front door

The front door is one of the first things you see when you look at someone’s house, and it needs to look beautiful and polished. We don’t say that you need to change your door because if it’s still in good condition, you can easily make it shine over the weekend.

Start this project by cleaning your door so that you can give it back its shine. When you’re done with that, apply a new coat of paint to it and let it do its thing. This will do wonders for the home’s curb appeal in just a few short hours.

An improvement like this can completely transform the appearance of your front door in a short amount of time and is one of the easiest upgrades to do. You can choose a safe, subtle color or take a risk with a deep, striking shade.

7. DIY built-ins

If you have more spare time this weekend and you’re also into arts and crafts, we have a project you’re going to love. Grab your tools and some wood pieces and get ready to DIY some built-ins. This is a great method to increase your storage capacity and improve the aesthetic appeal of your house in no time.

You can do this project on a weekend, whether you have the skills to create some pretty bespoke built-ins from scratch or you depend on a “shortcut” like using some simple bookshelves or storage cabinets to give you a head start.

Whatever you end up choosing, decorate those spaces with your favorite books, a plant or 2, and a few scented candles, and everything will look stunning!

8. Upgrade your grout

1 thing you can do to improve the look of your home while also boosting its value is to upgrade your grout. Worn or dirty floors can make your area look old and outdated, but you don’t need to change your floors to achieve your desired look.

While it might be a little boring, upgrading your grout is a QUICK and simple improvement to accomplish, and it can do wonders for the aesthetic appeal of a room. Whether you want to repair the grout or use a fast fix like grout paint, the outcome will be SO worth it. Try it out and tell us what you think about it!

9. Add countertop covers

There are several gorgeous alternatives to a complete countertop replacement if you’d like to give your countertops a new look without breaking the bank.

If you want to refresh the look of your countertops over the weekend, you can totally do that by applying countertop peel-and-stick film, using a countertop resurfacing kit, skim coating with concrete, spray painting (this is one of the easiest DIYs ever), or even applying a wood overlay for a chic butcher block impression.

This won’t take you a lot of time, and it will do wonders for your kitchen. Trust us, you’ll be more than happy to cook and clean your “new” and improved kitchen.

…This project is definitely one of the best ones ever!

10. Change your light fixtures

If you’re bored with the way your light fixtures look, this is your sign to change them! You might say that these items don’t make such a big difference, but the reality is actually the opposite.

This little project is not hard to finish, and it will create a dramatic effect that you’ll love. Not only will it change the aesthetic of your area, but it will also contribute to the room’s overall brightness. Definitely a win-win!
