If you own a home, you’re likely acquainted with how costly home repairs can get. That’s why some homeowners go for the DIY method. Doing the work yourself can be a clever way to save some cash on maintenance and minor repairs.

If you’re handy enough, you can learn so much by watching a few YouTube videos or taking a quick class at your local Home Depot. We get that DIY home improvement jobs might look easy on TV.

And going this route is a real money saver when confronting labor costs that can turn a leaky affordable toilet fill valve into a $300 expense.

But, some projects are risky and easy to mess up, no matter how many YouTube videos you watch, and many renovations mandate permits and finished work that must meet specific codes. When something goes awry, the best-case scenario is having to pay someone else to fix it.
