7 Timeless Florida Interior Design Trends You Should Follow

Are you a resident of Florida?

Not that our country isn’t absolutely gorgeous, but the state of Florida is surely one of the best! It has multiple top-notch universities where students can learn straight from the best teachers out there and plenty of lakes and rivers. If you’re into fishing, well, Florida is home to almost 1000 fishing records, which is unbelievable.

However, these are not the only reasons why this place is one of the greatest. Everything there looks like a dream: clear waters and sandy beaches wherever you go. I don’t know about you, but each time I think about it, I imagine myself lying on the beach, with a very good crime book in one hand and a mimosa or a margarita in the other. Well, you know what they say: “living my best life!”

Do you know what else is absolutely unique in Florida? The interior design. Everything looks very dazzling, sunny, and breezy, like a nonstop vacation. You already know that trends aren’t made to last, but when it comes to Florida-inspired home decor, some things are just too good not to be tried out.

Whether you live in this state or not, these home design principles are simple, chic, and easy to incorporate into the look of your home. They’ll give your beautiful places a cool and relaxing vibe, and they will make you feel like you’re on vacation on a quiet and stunning island. Sounds good? Then let’s begin!

1. Neutral shades

If you don’t want to waste a lot of time redecorating your home over and over again with all these styles coming and going each season, the smartest thing to do is to adopt a neutral color scheme.

Beige, white, and gray look gorgeous together, and they can even make your room appear larger, taller, cleaner, and more welcoming. People sometimes think that a neutral room might look like a hospital room since it’s so minimalist, but that’s not the case.

It’s actually the opposite: it will make your area look welcoming, chic, and sophisticated, but also simple and classy. Don’t forget to add colors too! Even though you’re not painting any walls in a strong hue, you can get a few accent pillows, an area rug, or a throw blanket to add a new shade to your color palette. This Florida trend is one of my favorites, especially since neutrals are so versatile and timeless!

2. Mirrors

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s got the best home decor of them all? Well, the answer to this question is simple: Florida residents. If you need another accessory in your home but have no idea what to invest in, a mirror will be exactly what you need, and the best part is that it never goes out of style.

You can either choose one that is floor-length and place it on the wall, or you can purchase a smaller one that you can hang on the wall or put against a table in your living room. This tiny change will create such a big difference that you’ll wonder why you haven’t given it thought earlier. It will brighten up the whole area, and it will turn it into something classy and cozy at the same time.

3. Tropical accents

Did anyone say tropical island? Just imagine this: you had a very busy day. Maybe you did your grocery shopping, ran around after your grandkids all day, had a lot of meetings at work, and ran plenty of errands, and you can’t wait to book a vacation. But what if you don’t exactly have the budget for a getaway? You can turn your home into the best relaxing oasis for a staycation.

Go to the nearest shop and get some tropical accents to decorate your living room with. Whether you choose some bright colors or something soft and cozy, you’ll have the perfect Florida-like decor.

Don’t forget to also grab some plants to display around the house, so you can get the outdoor feeling inside. And if you feel the need for an extra pop of color, invest in some throw pillows in a nice shade of blue, which will make you dream of the clear waters the state of Florida amazes us with.

4. Floral patterns

Now, what do you think about adding a little softness to your home? If you want to feel a little dreamy, soft, and relaxed each time you go to your bedroom, there’s a simple trick to achieve exactly what you want.

Invest in a lampshade with tiny flower patterns or choose a set of bed sheets with delicate flowers on them. To get the most out of this Florida-inspired decor idea, only pick light shades, such as dusty pink, baby blue, lavender, peach, or light green. If flowers are your favorite and you think that you enjoy a few extra whimsical elements, you can also buy a floral wallpaper and cover one of your walls with it.

However, as beautiful, classy, and dreamy as this print looks, don’t go overboard with it because too much of it actually creates the opposite effect of what you wanted.

You surely don’t want your home to look outdated, so don’t exaggerate with this print. Keep only a few elements, and you’ll notice how stylish everything will look.

5. Accent wall

Some people think that accent walls are boring and don’t look that good, but the thing is that they can look exactly how you imagine them to be if you know how to design them.

Of course, you won’t choose a navy blue shade if your whole room is full of pastel hues. It won’t look good, and you’ll feel terrible about your choice. But if you love the Florida style, you probably want to think about creating an accent wall in your home.

You can choose to paint a wall in your living room, bedroom, or any other room in your home in a nice shade of turquoise or blue that will make you dream of the ocean, or you can go for a bright yellow shade to bring the sun closer to you. The possibilities are endless; you just have to decide what look you want to achieve and what mood you’re going for.

6. Geometric patterns

You might say that geometric patterns have nothing to do with Florida-inspired home decor, but you’ll be surprised to discover how stunning these elements could look. You don’t have to paint squares or circles on your walls, but rather invest in some pillows, blankets, or little ottomans that have geometric patterns on them.

If you want to take it up a notch, you can pick a design that is both gorgeous and that also has colors that are inspired by this state, such as yellow, pink, blue, turquoise, orange, and green. Give the style idea a try because it will make you feel like you’re staying in a fancy, beachy hotel each day!

7. Metallic elements

Who said that gold and silver don’t look good with a Florida-inspired home decor style? The majority of people like to have a little touch of glam and shine in their homes, and when everything blends perfectly with the pastel or vibrant shades that you might already have, the results will be marvelous!

You don’t have to go over the top with metallic elements to achieve the sophisticated look that you want. You can even use just 1 or 2 pieces, such as blankets and a lamp, to create an eye-catching visual effect.

If you want to be extra special, you can combine gold and silver. It’s not a typical combination, since people prefer to only pick one metallic shade, but interior designers say that they blend perfectly together. Create some contrast and give life to all of those unique ideas you have!
