Home Upgrade No. 6: Install Raised Outlets
Look around your house. Where exactly do you have your outlets installed? Are they rather closer to the floor level, or are they at your torso level? That’s a pretty important detail you may want to consider when having new outlets installed.
In fact, if you don’t ask, most electricians will install them in the standard position, which is 12–18 inches off the floor. Look into the future and just think about how you’ll have to bend over every time you have to plug in your phone charger or the vacuum. You may not have a problem doing that now, but in your 70s, your back won’t feel the same.
It’s actually easier than you may think to have an electrician raise your outlets to 24 inches or higher. This home upgrade will make your home easier to use as you age.
