9. Remove Doorway Thresholds
Small home upgrades can be made to make things easier for navigating throughout the house. As you age, mobility can become a real problem, and even little modifications can ease your life.
Removing saddles or thresholds from doorways makes passing from one room to another easier and prevents shuffling feet from tripping on them. A threshold also makes using a walker or wheelchair more difficult due to the flooring height difference.
If it’s not possible to remove your thresholds, you can buy ramps that make it easier to get around. They are relatively inexpensive and, if needed, may also be secured with a couple of screws or some heavy-duty double-stick tape.
